Yesterday, President Obama weighed in on state legalization efforts in what may go down as a turning point for our movement:
“It's important for [state marijuana legalization] to go forward because it’s important for society not to have a situation in which a large portion of people have at one time or another broken the law and only a select few get punished... We should not be locking up kids or individual users for long stretches of jail time when some of the folks who are writing those laws have probably done the same thing.”
That's a pretty powerful argument. As we know, legalization makes our laws more fair and our communities safer. Now it's up to us to carry this momentum forward, build on the success in Colorado in Washington, and legalize cannabis in California.
Now it's your turn. Why do you support legalization in California?
